My Arty and Crafty Interests - Sharing My Finds and Creations

Hey :-D Looking good! Thankyou for visiting my page :-D.  I am new to blogging as such, so please excuse my teething as I practice making things look just right around here.  I have come across so many awesome blogs that I am inspired to create my own! So many wonderful spirited gals sharing their talents with others and helping us develop our own talents. As I come across awesome blogs I will share them with you so you can benefit also.

Quick Sketch

Equally quick addition of colour via use of makeup, felt pens and pencils!

I drew this on my daughter Rebekah's 21st birthday which was the day before yesterday (and if the date isn't showing up on this post then I refer to April 25th :-D )  It was the most beautiful day here in Sussex England, so glorious and I was reminded when my beautiful daughter was just a small baby, I was artistic and so I put aside my housework and dedicated myself to some artwork.

Here are some pics of that day... a local park and some blossom!

(I drew this on the most beautiful day of the year so far [23rd April] where I live, it has been such a long dull, overcast and wet winter that to suddenly have a glorious day was not to be missed ... my car was also at the Garage for a fix, so I had an attempted bike ride to a park where I sat and waited for my car to be assessed and drew instead, the first time in perhaps as much as a decade! The sky was bright and the sun shining warmly, I ended up with sunburn! I didn't care, I was just glad to see the sky and the sun after a long absence! It was my Mum's birthday on this day, so I will share the drawing with her also :-D)

It was such a beautiful day that I gathered a picnic together and a change of clothes and collected my chidren right from school and took them to the park for an arty and crafty bit of fun in the sun! Two of my daughters Bethany and Viennah and one son Lincoln are shown here along with me in the pic (lol... I laugh at myself as I NEVER have dyed my hair any unusual colours before, but I dared myself for Mothers Day here in England to do something out of the ordinary and thus I dyed my hair BLUE, which then turned GREEN but is now mostly blond, with shimmers of green/blue just in case you were wondering, and I also am never brave to have my hair up, but I too have been trying to overcome that and here I am with plaits! So this is why I said LOL!)

I have loved crafty things mostly since becoming a latter-day saint when I was a teenager.  This is the place I was inspired the most in a sense of there being a focus to learn.  My Mum and Dad were very artistic and I was in awe of them, I did take Art as an exam option at school before I was LDS, so I did have interest but it just didn't get much focus until being in Young Women's and in Relief Society where talent was so often shared and encouraged.

I have been so busy that being crafty took a back seat for a while, but I am feeling it is time to get back with it and create things for love, for my family and for beauty to leave behind for posterity.

I don't want to leave this world and not leave a mark on it ... who can inspect a clean house when we are gone? What person is remembered through time for cooking a dinner and cleaning a house except of course teaching chores to children, but then again that is common the world over. No, we can leave an imprint by making things of beauty, and by leaving a journal so this is my intention and hopefully amongst all of that, I might reclaim a memory of being a fun mum full of creativity and resourcefulness, and truth :-D

The following posts will contain artwork, crochet, patchwork, knitting, dress alterations, dressmaking, scrapbooking, DIY, and a whole collection of anything that happens to be creative or crafty! I will add my own, plus all the wonderful links I come across that inspire me and help me to learn, so there will be tutorials added that I find and want to share.

Are you like me? Let's get Crafty and build up a collection to be proud of, and make gifts instead of buy gifts for special people, if we can! Of course there are some items other people make that you cannot resist but to buy, I mean my talent has yet to be developed and some people are way ahead in the awesomeness league x x

Glad to have you here, I would love to make new friends and link up. Please leave a comment, I don't bite, I love people and although I am not perfect, I do love to hear about people and their life stories and to extend love and kindness to all. I am comforting myself with being creative as I have focused too much on the daily grind and the years are rolling by, time to recapture some beauty of life and enjoy it! I don't think God intended us to run though life, but to enjoy pleasures such as developing talents that beautify.

God did not just create us a house/earth for us, but He went to lengths to create beauty in creation and so we should let ourselves do the same, to take time out not only to do the mundane chores and grind of life but to fit in time to appreciate the blue skies, the flowers and the trees, the streams, the hills, the birds singing and to fill our life with some edifying joy! As Mothers and Wives, we sacrifice so much of our time but we should give ourselves time also. :-D Yay! Enjoy :-D
